What is the difference between the films?
The Conversation keeps one person's memories in a 30–60-minute lightly tidied interview film. The Life Portrait and A Family Film each include two films: a short, crafted story and one combined 60–90-minute lightly tidied interview film. The longer film keeps more of the main storytellers' conversation in their own words.
Who can the film be about?
The Conversation is for one main storyteller. The Life Portrait brings two main storytellers together and can include up to two brief family interviews. A Family Film includes two main storytellers and up to four brief family interviews. We can quote more voices separately.
What if we're not comfortable on camera?
There is nothing to memorise or perform. We allow time to settle in and can pause whenever you need a break. Each visit includes setup, conversation, portraits and supporting scenes, so nobody needs to speak continuously.
How long will we spend filming?
The Conversation allows up to 2½ hours at home. The Life Portrait includes one filming day of up to 7½ hours. If a gentler pace would suit the storyteller, we can arrange two shorter visits at the same home for an extra fee agreed in your quote. A Family Film includes two full filming days of up to 7½ hours each: one mainly for conversations and one for family life, meaningful places and visual scenes. All visits include setup and breaks; nobody needs to speak continuously.
How do we prepare, and can we include old photographs?
After your booking, a short preparation conversation helps JC understand the people, places and memories that matter to you, and plan thoughtful questions before filming. You can share selected digital family photographs and home videos for the crafted film. We will agree which material is useful and discuss any scanning, conversion or permissions needed before the edit.
Where do you film, and can we customise an offer?
Usually at home or somewhere meaningful and comfortable in Sydney. The standard offers assume one agreed filming location. Based near Revesby, we can discuss additional locations, more people, extra filming or a longer film; we agree the scope and any travel costs in your quote before you book.
How long does the process take, and can we request changes?
We confirm a first-review and final-delivery schedule in your quote, allowing time for materials and feedback. The Conversation includes one consolidated round of feedback; The Life Portrait and A Family Film include two. Factual and privacy corrections take priority. New filming or a new story direction is quoted separately.
How do booking and payment work?
We start with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation. Once you approve your quote and terms in writing, a 50% deposit secures the booking. The balance is payable before release of the approved final files; your invoice confirms the details.
How will we watch and share the film?
Every offer includes private digital delivery, edited portrait photographs and a personalised USB. The two larger offers include both the crafted film and the longer interview film. You can keep copies and share privately with family and friends. Tell us before posting online so we can check music and other licensing requirements.
Will our film be kept private?
Yes. Permission to make your family film is separate from permission to use it for promotion. We only use identifiable footage, photographs or testimonials publicly with separate, specific written permission. Declining promotional use does not affect your booking.
